...is that you do not talk about Beer Club...unless you enjoy beer.

This week Steve set me up with a collection of beers hailing from the state of radical revolutionary thinking, clam chowda and high-caliber pro football...no, not Louisiana...I'm talking about Massachusetts. Anyone interested in swapping beer with folks in other parts of the country are welcome to join us. Enjoying a Haverhill at the moment. Thanks again Steve-o.

Haverhill American Pale Ale (was gonna go for the Blueberry, but decided the PA sounded better). SOLID Pale Ale, light but flavorful, but what gets me is the dry finish. And I mean DRY finish. It's like the finish of a super dry champagne. That is unusual in a beer. Did you notice the same thing?

Donkey score - 8.0

Steve -

I opened the Opa Opa! Brown Ale tonight after a long day at work. Holy shit, it was ICE COLD. Dark amber to the point of almost being a stout (see picture). You can't see it, but a nice foamy head on the pour as well (again, like a good stout). One of my favorite beers ever is Newcastle Brown on tap (not bottled) and this is as fresh, but with more flavor (lack of preservatives I guess). Just as the dry is what made the Haverhill, it is the just-brewed taste of this ale that makes it. Excellent beer and easily the best of any beer we have traded thus far. EDIT: finished two pints of it already in the time it took to type this and buzzing a little. God damn great beer Steve.

Opa Opa! Brown Ale - Donkey score - 9.0

Chillin the Opa in the garage fridge with the Santana champ cause its so crisp...

I just picked up a fresh keg tonight. Laurelwood Brewing Co Workhorse IPA.

F it. I cant figure out how to post a picture.

Oh, and Donk if you like IPA's, you cant go wrong with the Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA. My company distributes it here and it is awesome.

I will wait until I see the UJ on tap before I try it. I'm going to take a mini-vacation to SB soon and there is an Irish pub there that usually has all of the local so-cal beers on tap, so I can try it then.
